Producer: Dermot Sugrue
60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir from Vineyards planted on Sussex Downs Chalk 2006, aged in old oak barrels and stainless steel.
A very small harvest, just 3,000 bottles compared to the 8,000 produced in 2014, disgorged in June 2020 and in just remarkable form.
This wine has now had 4 years on lees and 6 months on cork (time post-disgorging) and the Chardonnay element is just bursting forwards and singing right now.
I love it, it’s a brilliant expression of the vineyards and exactly the style of wine I set out to make there every year; the quality really is first rate, one to cellar if you wish but very much for drinking right now, also – there is great concentration of fruit and great depth, structure and stony intensity to this wine.
